The Young Musicians Showcase

Each year we are delighted to provide a showcase of new and emerging young talent drawn from local schools by music teacher Ben Draper. Some of our ‘graduates’ have gone on to become full time musicians. Limited space; get there early if you want a seat.

Evie Baldwin (12) and Lily Marr (13) These two have been friends for years and have been playing music together more recently. Evie studies at QEGS in Penrith, loves her horse, and wants to be a barrister when she is older. Lily studies at William Howard School, loves singing and dancing, and would love a career with 4Ocean America. A super pair who are a joy to listen to!

Natasha Carss (14) Natasha attends William Howard School and enjoys hill walking and textiles. Keen on being a music teacher when she is older, Natasha is sounding great on the piano and we look forward to her set!

Brenden Carss (15) Brenden - accompanied by Ben Draper - is a talented guitarist who studies at William Howard School. He enjoys walking, but prefers playing the guitar, and is looking at a career as a sound engineer in the future. An impressive set awaits!

Helena Maude (11) Helena is our  youngest musician in the showcase this year, but don’t let that fool you. A super talented pianist whose favourite band is Queen. She loves the 90’s sitcom ‘Friends’ and wants to be a music teacher when she is older. We wish her every success and look forward to her set!

Billy Macgregor (15) When not playing guitar - and at William Howard School Billy is usually found with a guitar in hand -  Billy plays rugby for Carlisle Rugby Club Under 15’s Team and also for the County Team. He aspires to have a career in medicine too, so he surely can’t sleep much! A natural rocky blues guitarist, we look forward to his set!

Josie and Lorna Mattinson (13) Josie and Lorna both attend William Howard School and have become a super duo. As well as playing guitar, Josie’s interests include netball and she hopes to have a career in music when she is older. Lorna loves music and art as well as playing netball and tennis, and has ambitions to be a DJ / Remixer. A fantastic end to this year’s Showcase, we wish them the very best.
